Ingredients for Rolls

Makes about 5 rolls

  • 250 g Quick Oat Rolls (by Bauckhof)
  • 200 ml water
  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil
  • 1 tablespoon light vinegar

Ingredients for the Filling

  • Cheddar cheese or cheese of your choice (possibly lactose-free or a plant-based alternative)
  • Herb butter (possibly lactose-free or a plant-based alternative)

Making

  1. 01
Prepare the Quick Oat Rolls according to the package instructions. Let them cool completely on a baking sheet (they can also be baked the day before). You’ll need the contents of half a package to make 5 rolls—of course, you can bake more if you’d like.
  2. 02
Preheat the oven to 200 °C (top and bottom heat) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Make one lengthwise cut and several crosswise cuts on the top of the rolls—but do not cut all the way through—to create an even lattice pattern. Fill the slits with herb butter so that they are completely covered, and press small pieces of cheese into them as well.
  3. 03
Place the rolls on the baking sheet and bake in the oven at 200 °C (top and bottom heat) for about 10–15 minutes, until they are golden brown and the cheese has melted nicely.
  4. 04
Depending on your preference, sprinkle a little chives or cress over the rolls as a topping and serve them hot.

Our Tip

These rolls are great to make ahead—just bake them the day before and reheat them briefly with herb butter and cheese before serving.
